John Malmborg is a producer, composer, and labor organizer who believes that art and survival are inseparable. For two decades, he has crafted immersive soundscapes - fusing electronic textures, raw instrumentation, and field recordings into a signature style that has been featured in film, television, and installation art. His multimedia installation SHAPE of Tucson, created in collaboration with architect Aletheia Ida, debuted at SXSW 2022, his largest commissioned project to date.
Despite landing additional work later that year, things were drying up. So John took a job at an Amazon warehouse in 2023, where he saw firsthand the relentless grind designed to exhaust, isolate, and silence workers. Instead of keeping his head down, he fought back.
Now, through Malmborg Report, John is bridging the worlds of labor, creativity, and culture - amplifying workers' voices and exposing the hidden realities of the modern workplace. His podcast features organizers, artists, and thinkers tackling the biggest questions of our time: How do we build power? How do we create without exploitation? How do we push back against systems designed to break us?
Whether through music, organizing, or media, John’s work is driven by one simple idea: No one is disposable. His mission is to ensure that workers, artists, and everyday people aren’t just heard, but impossible to ignore.
